The Subtler States
Study metaphysics or begin learning about the deeper somewhat hidden aspects of spirituality or the occult and you will no doubt come across the concept of Astral Traveling or Projecting. There are plenty of books on the subject and a few will be mentioned here. This is a subject of which I have experience and yet I do not consider myself an expert. I will leave the teaching to those who have already done so. A book that had some good information is an older book and therefor an inexpensive one nowadays. The recommended book in this case is Life Beyond Death by Yogi Ramacharaka. The book is written by a highly respected author fond of pseudonyms.
“There is no such place as the Astral Plane. The Astral Plane is neither up nor down, neither north, south, east, or west. It lies in no special direction – and yet it lies in all directions. It is, first, last, and always, a state or condition and not a place. It is rather a phase or degree of vibration, rather than a portion of space. Its dimensions are those of Time – not those of Space. When we use the words; “region;” “realm;” “higher or lower;” “above or below;” we employ them merely figuratively, just as we speak of “a high rate of vibration,” or “a rate or vibration above that, ect.”

The topic of Astral Awareness is not confined to authors long since passed. There are some excellent books by modern authors as well. William Buhlman has a good book, Adventures Beyond the Body: How to Experience Out-of-Body Travel.
It is suggested that one not seek out Astral Projection merely as a way to escape the world. If one is to really derive benefit from these types of experiences they should be incorporated into your life, not replace it.
