“keep yourself focused on your goals rather then your worries. Goals are something you can do something about. Worries are things you wish you could do something about.”
When we focus on goals we can make progress or utilize the law of evolution. There will always be ups and downs or setbacks and small successes but if we keep the goal in mind we can stay focused on the positive or polarized at the perceived good.
When we focus on worry we are essentially living in the past or at the very least living in the unreal. If we are to attain any benefit from worry it should be to alert us of what to avoid and where to aim our progress. There is a quote from Lao Tzu that I remember saying that, “if we are anxious we are living in the future, if we are depressed we are living in the past, and if we are at peace we are living in the present.”
The NOW, here in the present, is where our minds should spend the majority its time. The past can show us how causes set in motion bring about results. The future can help us consider what causes we should set in motion in the present. The lesson of both the past and the future though is to live in the ever present NOW. It is NOW that you have the power to cause something positive, something that may cause future happiness. Do not waste this moment!
